Claude renames Max 20x to Ultra and drops the 5-hour limit for verified accounts
Anthropic renamed its two Max plans and, for verified accounts on the top tier, removed the five-hour usage window. If you run long Claude Code render or editing sessions, here's what changed and what didn't.
What changed. Per Claude's Oct 30 post (11:29 AM MDT), Max 5x is now just Max, still $100 a month, and Max 20x is now Ultra, still $200. Existing subscribers don't need to do anything.
The limit. Anthropic says it is removing the 5-hour limit for verified Ultra accounts, starting today with most existing subscribers. Newer accounts keep a temporary limit until they're verified, which Anthropic says helps prevent fraud and abuse, and they'll get an email when it's lifted. Weekly limits stay as they are.
Why it matters for video work. Agent-driven video jobs, such as Remotion or HyperFrames builds, skill-driven edits in Resolve, or long render-and-review loops, are the kind of session that used to hit the five-hour window mid-task. On Ultra that interruption goes away, but the weekly cap still sets your total budget.
Our take: nothing to do if you're on $100 Max. If your team has been splitting long agent sessions to dodge the five-hour reset, Ultra just got simpler; keep an eye on weekly usage instead.
