Don't start an Opus 5.5 film from a blank prompt: the open repos that show their prompts and code
@RoundtableSpace rounded up eight repos where every Opus 5.5 video comes with its prompt and source. Four of them are worth cloning: a 51-style film skill, a 15-style motion kit with a review rubric, a hand-painted cartoon base, and a 4K60 karaoke music video.
There are plenty of 'Claude made this video' clips going around. Very few come with everything behind them. On Oct 21, @RoundtableSpace posted eight GitHub repos that do. We opened all eight. Most are galleries, but four are real starting points, because they ship the prompt, the renderer and the finished film together. Star counts below are from the GitHub API on Oct 21. None of these use a video model: the picture, the motion and usually the sound are all code.
lemo-opuscar (Lemomo, MIT, about 4.8k stars) is a Claude Code plugin: claude plugin marketplace add lemomo-ai/lemo-opuscar, then claude plugin install lemo-opuscar@lemolab. You get 51 film styles, each a reusable style prompt plus a demo film. You then ask for something like 'a 45-second film in the watercolor style about my family's coffee farm, warm female narrator'. Canvas and WebGL pages are rendered frame by frame, with scores built from free sample libraries and TTS narration. It added 'Evidence Films' on Oct 16 (styles built on real material, with every number measured or sourced) and a 'make a style your own' flow on Oct 19. The author says the styles are tuned for Opus 5.5 and other models may not reproduce them.
mg-styles-15 (Vincentwei1021, MIT, about 1.6k) is the most useful kit for studying technique. It has fifteen 10-second motion-design films, from line-boil cel animation and isometric 2.5D to synthwave and a 9:16 variety-caption edit. Each one comes with style notes, the full prompt and all its source. Every film is a page exposing window.renderAt(t). Headless Chrome captures the frames and ffmpeg joins them with a soundtrack synthesised by a per-film audio.py. Only the 3D style goes through Blender. Two ideas to steal: a rubric.md you hand to a second AI to review the film (the originals went through make, review and revise twice), and a template.md with four parts (output spec, technical route, creative seed, signature features). To make a style yours, change only the creative seed.
ClaudeAnimationBase (John Heibel, MIT, about 1.4k) is a p5.js + p5.brush starter for hand-painted cartoons. It's built around a Clawd character with 31 acted emotions and an ANIMATION_GUIDE.md that tells the model to storyboard first, build shot by shot and check contact sheets before writing out/video.mp4. The watercolour fills are slow without a GPU (seconds per frame), and the README suggests asking the model to swap them out on integrated graphics. mexicat's pdoom-video (MIT, about 3.1k) is the deep end: a three.js karaoke music video where every frame is a function of song time. Its timing data came from Demucs stems and CTC forced alignment cross-checked with Whisper, and it renders 1080p60 or 4K60 with sub-frame motion blur. Note that the song isn't the repo authors' own. Check the credits before reusing any audio.
The rest are galleries. yihui-dev's awesome-opus5-5-videos (about 8.1k) lists around 700 prompts with links to each creator's original post. Its remakes live on Skillry. athemeroy's list (CC-BY-4.0) labels its sources, and joeseesun's collects 54 Chinese-language cases. Our suggestion: pick one style from mg-styles-15 or lemo-opuscar, keep the signature features, swap the seed for your own brief, and run the review rubric before you render. Spotted, not tested. Credit @RoundtableSpace for the roundup and each repo's author.
