MoneyPrinterTurbo is trending again: topic in, finished short out
The 2024 short-video generator by harry0703 is back on GitHub's daily Trending lists (all languages and Python) on Nov 4, a day after @RoundtableSpace featured it. It's MIT-licensed, sits near 139K stars, and has quietly grown from a stock-footage slideshow maker into a front end for Seedance, MiniMax H3 and a dozen voice engines.
What it does. You give it a topic or keyword; per the README it writes the script, picks footage, records a voiceover, adds subtitles and music, and exports 9:16, 16:9 or 1:1 video. It runs as a web UI, an API or a CLI, with batch variants and task history.
What changed since we last listed it. Footage can still come free from Pexels, Pixabay or your own folder, but the README now lists AI clip sources too: Seedance through Volcano Engine Ark, MiniMax H3 through Metaso, and Seedance/Wan via aggregator keys. Voice options run from free Edge TTS to ElevenLabs, Fish Audio, Kokoro, Chatterbox and VoxCPM cloning. The Oct 21 v1.3.9 release added an `mpt` pip package (`mpt webui`, `mpt cli`) and an optional local SDXL image server.
Things to know. Many provider links in the README are sponsor or referral links, so pick providers on price and terms, not placement. It can publish straight to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube Shorts, which is convenient but makes it easy to flood a channel with templated content. Platforms increasingly demote that, and AI-generated footage may need a disclosure label.
Our take: the free path (Edge TTS + stock footage + local render) is still one of the cheapest ways to get rough-cut faceless shorts for explainers or drafts. Treat the output as a first assembly you re-edit, not a finished upload.
