LTX Desktop 1.3.1: green-screen-free cutouts, drawn motion paths, 4K and a planning assistant in the free local app
Lightricks' open-source desktop app now cuts a subject out of a clip with no green screen, lets you draw up to three motion paths, follows Pose, Depth or Canny guide videos, renders 1440p and 4K, and has an assistant that plans and queues jobs.
LTX Desktop is Lightricks' free, Apache-2.0 app for running LTX-2.5 locally. It combines generation, a video editor, an asset library and a job queue. @ltx_io promoted a 'major update' on Oct 21. The release behind it is v1.3.1 (published Oct 19), which builds on 1.3.0's redesign from Oct 9. For video people, the new IC-LoRA tools are the main news, because they work on footage you already have.
Per the release notes: AlphaGen cuts a subject out of a video with no green screen and no prompt, and returns a transparent WebM plus a matte MP4 that line up with your clip. Motion Track Control lets you draw up to three paths on a start frame to move objects or the camera, with a live preview. Video Guide drives a generation from a guide video using Pose, Depth or Canny edges. Ingredients combines up to 10 reference images into one clip. IC-LoRA tools now keep every frame of your source, and a Source audio mode copies the original sound. These sit alongside 1.3.0's Day to Night, Layout to Render, Restore, Deblur, Colorization, Clean Plate and Decompression.
Resolution and length went up too. Text, image and audio to video now go to 1440p (clips up to 20 seconds) and 4K (up to 10 seconds, no 21:9), and long clips are generated in overlapping windows. Lightricks says a 20-second 1080p clip now fits on a 32 GB card. There's also a new Assistant that plans and queues jobs from plain language (generate, restyle, Retake and Extend, find assets, pull a frame), on desktop or from your phone over the local network. It runs on a Gemini API key or a local model you download.
What it takes: the product page lists an NVIDIA GPU with 24 GB+ VRAM (32 GB recommended), 32 GB RAM and 100–160 GB of disk on Windows or Linux. The 1.3.1 notes add that Windows cards with 9 GB+ and fp8 support can run smaller settings. On a Mac, local generation needs Apple Silicon with 48 GB+ (32 GB is limited to 540p and 5 seconds) and macOS 26. The app is Apache-2.0, but the weights fall under the LTX Model License, which is free for commercial use below $10M in annual revenue. Downloading the gated LTX-2.5 weights may require a Hugging Face sign-in. Cut out only people you have rights to film. Spotted, not tested. Credit Lightricks.
